Fox Reaches Agreement with Comcast for Fox Soccer Channel in HD
Jack Bell of the New York Times reported last Thursday that Fox has finally reached an agreement with Comcast to broadcast Fox Soccer Channel in High Definition.
In an interview with Fox Soccer’s General Manager David Nathanson, he stated that his channel had reached an agreement with Comcast, the largest cable provider in the US. Comcast was the last cable company holding out on FSC.
According to another article in Goal.com, Comcast has the largest market share of any multichannel video programming distributor in America, reaching nearly 23 million subscribers as of Dec. 2010, according to the National Cable & Telecommunications Association. This is 3 million more than DirecTV and almost double Time Warner’s 12 million.
In that same New York Times report, Nathanson said the station plans on upgrading its Fox Soccer Report which is produced in Winnipeg, Canada but their studio is not equipped with HD capabilities at this time. The station does have plans to broadcast the news program in HD some time in the future.

All I want for Christmas is FSC…in HD!
Now only if Comcast can finally figure out when they plan on adding Fox Soccer HD to the Twin Cities area.
Cox Cable here in Gainesville still doesn’t have it in HD.
Bummer.
I watched Fox Soccer Channel HD all winter, it is heaven on earth, thanks Bright House Networks.
HD is almost as good as standing in the beer garden on game day at the NSC.
Finally! It’s so disappointing to watch every other sporting event on TV in HD and then turn on FSC and GolTV on Comcast and not have them in HD. Does anyone know when FSC HD will go live on Comcast?
I’ll believe it when I see it.
It showed up in Seattle on 6/1/11. Tivo alerted us to a new channel in the line-up and I was stunned (I hadn’t heard about the agreement). I hope it will be arriving to markets all over the country soon! The picture is really fantastic. Even the commercials look good.
