Kate Ryan Reiling has announced her resignation as head women’s soccer coach at Macalester College. A 2000 graduate of Macalester, three-time All-American midfielder, and captain of the 1998 national championship team, Ryan Reiling leaves her coaching assignment after one season.

She replaced 22-year coach John Leaney and led the Scots to an 11-6-2 record and NCAA Division III playoff berth in her lone season at Macalester. This past fall she was named to the prestigious NCAA Silver Anniversary team which honored her as one of the top 11 Division III players in the past 25 years.

As creator of the popular board game “Morphology,” Coach Ryan Reiling sites difficulties balancing the responsibilities of both her coaching and business duties. She will remain at Macalester until June 17.

“I want to extend my appreciation to the Athletic Department for their support this past year,” Ryan Reiling said. “While I am excited about the future of Morphology, it is a bittersweet moment for me to leave the Macalester women’s soccer team. I will deeply miss the players and the opportunity to be a part of the bright future ahead for the program.”
