2011 June 19

Come join Minnesota supporters of the Men’s National Team, along with readers of IMSoccer News, duNord Futbol, and the Dark Clouds supporters group for a US National Team watch party.

The US National Team plays Jamaica in a CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinal game, June 19 with a 2:00 p.m. CT kick off. The game will be carried live from FOX Soccer, Univision, CONCACAF.com and Univision.com, with the winner advancing to Wednesday’s 7 p.m. ET semifinal in Houston, Texas. Fans can also follow the match live via ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker and on Twitter.

The match against Jamaica is the first in more than five years after the teams met 17 times from 1988 to 2006.
The U.S. will be facing Jamaica for the 18th time in history, posting an undefeated 9-0-8 record in 17 games between 1998 and 2006.
The teams have met twice in the Gold Cup with the U.S. holding a 2-0-0 lead in that series, most recently with the U.S. winning a 2005 quarterfinal at Gillette Stadium 2-1 en route to winning the title.
The U.S. and Jamaica tied 1-1 at RFK Stadium in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on Oct. 3, 1997. Eric Wynalda scored that day for the U.S.
The U.S. will be playing in Washington, D.C., for the 21st time. RFK Stadium has hosted each of the previous meetings, and on Sunday will tie the Los Angeles Coliseum for hosting the most U.S. Men’s National Team games.
Tuesday’s match in Kansas City was the 51st for the U.S. in the Gold Cup, a CONCACAF record. The U.S. also has the CONCACAF record for wins, holding a 40-6-6 record.
Jamaica’s roster may look familiar to US fans as there are currently 7 MLS players on the roster. In fact there will be 14 MLS players on the two rosters as the US also has 7 MLS players on their roster.
