A Tribute to Bobby Rhine
Like so many I was shocked yesterday when I learned of the passing of former FC Dallas player and current color commentator and play-by-play man for the team’s television broadcasts, Bobby Rhine.
Rhine retired in 2008 after 212 appearances and 23 goals scored. He then became the manager of community development for the team, a perfect job for the upbeat and caring Florissant, Missouri native.
Personally I only had contact with Bobby a few times but he was always very positive and generous, which is exactly the way other members of the media who knew him much better portrayed Rhine in their comments yesterday.
Rhine was on vacation with his wife Beven and two young children when he apparently died of a heart attack at the age of 35.
Here is a nice video tribute that has been posted on YouTube. Hat tip to The Original Winger.
