Alyssa Blahnik’s Amazing 2011 Minnesota State Tournament Goal
Alyssa Blahnik, playing for the Burnsville Blaze, scored one of the more fantastic goals I’ve witnessed in a Minnesota State High School Soccer Tournament. Blahnik’s team was matching up against the Wayzata Trojans in Thursday’s Girls 2A Final. Blahnik receives a clearance ball from Sarah Poythress. The junior forward, who had made a number of mazy runs through the Trojans defense earlier in the game, flips the ball over her own head atop her own defensive third as she targeted up with a defender tight on her back. Blahnik then turned, beat her defender to the ball and proceeded to dribble with pace with three Wayzata players in pursuit. After dribbling some 55 yards, Blahnik calmly unleashed a low shot to the far post to score the most remarkable goal of the 2011 tournament for either boys or girls.
Opposition coach Tony Pesznecker, who knows a thing or two about the game, had nothing but praise for Blahnik’s goal. “I told her afterwards that was a world class goal. That was one of the best high school soccer individual efforts that you’ve ever seen because it was creative, which is missing for the majority of the players. She has the unique ability whether you are doing a good job on her or not, every time she gets the ball it’s, oh-oh she’s going to have a chance for a goal. She’s not just a good athlete, she’s got good soccer skills. She’s a good soccer player.”
The second goal of the game was also pretty special. The deep cross from Wayzata’s Maddie Eklin was near perfect and found the head of Kiana Nickel who made a near post run. Quality on both goals.
A special Thanks to Dave Moy for permission to use these video which he was shooting for Wayzata’s soccer program.

Both great goals at any level. Very cool for those players to have them captured on video as well.
