Meh. I was hoping they’d go with the Inter look they had with their original USL jerseys and that is in the logo.
I like the fleur-de-lys/flag elements on the jersey, but overall they are pretty lame.
I’d have to give them a C- for their entire MLS identity. I actually like their old USL/NASL logo/kits better, and they get blown away by the logo/kits of the last few expansion teams(Timbers/Whitecaps/Sounders/Union).
F19, i agree 100% with your comments.
I was disappointed myself. I’ve heard a number of people remark that they thought they might go with the Inter stripe look. I think it would have been unique in MLS if they had done that. Also agreed F19, after the reveal of the Timbers, Whitecaps and Seattle, it was a let down.
Eh, no big deal really. The changing of uniforms on a near constant basis in soccer is something that has always annoyed me. It seems like nothing more than a money grab by clubs to keep selling merchandise. Considering how often they’re changed they should sell them for less. These are kind of “plain” but it won’t be long before there is something new, so don’t fret fashion critics! LOL
Personally, I like them. They’re very classic, but that’s not a bad thing. I particularly like the fleurs de lys cross. While I agree Vancouver’s jerseys are marginally better looking than Montréal’s (I think Vancouver got some of the best jerseys in the league), I still prefer Montréal’s jerseys to Portland boring ones and Seattle’s color blinding shirts (I guess I’m just not that into green). I’m not sure why some outside fans expected them to be like the Inter’s, Joey stated on so many occasions that they weren’t going back to the old A league colors (unless for a third kit on a special occasion, maybe at the club’s 25th anniversary?). All in all, I’m glad they kept the good old colors and like the jersey even if it’s not very original.
Strikers Return you can blame the kit manufactures as well as the clubs. It’s a money grab by both. I know one club that has it in their contract they have to have a new kit every year for the first 5 years of the contract. This was something that the manufacturer wanted.
Oh year as far as the kit goes not really a fan of it. But then again I haven’t really seen an Adidas kit I liked.
I have to admit that I have been a little slow as of late, but why BMO as the kit sponsor? Are they still sponsoring Toronto? You think they could have got something like Dr. Dre Headphones to sponsor the kit, eh?
^That last comment was just WRONG…Bad Soccer Boy!
I always enjoyed the fact that Toronto has Bank of MOntréal written on their jerseys.
By the way, aren’t the jerseys on this article’s picture the replicas?
People did seem to think Montreal would go with the Inter look. That is ex-Inter player Nelson Rivas wearing the uniform, maybe they thought that was close enough.
