The U.S. U-17  Men’s National Team defeated Brazil 3-1 on Sunday at the Nike International Friendlies at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. The tournament took place in conjunction with the U.S. Developmental Academy Winter Showcase.

Rubio Rubin, who has been very impressive for the U.S. in this tournament, scored the first goal with a deft over-the-head kick from close range in only the second minute of play.

Matheus from Brazil scored in the 16th with a shot for distance that powered into the upper 90.

Tyler Turner scored in the 31st for the U.S. as did Wesley Wade in the 43rd.

The US held on in the second half despite some pressure from the Brazilians.

The US had defeated Turkey on Friday afternoon by a score of 2-1 with goals coming from Tyler Turner in the 19th minute and Junior Flores in the 88th minute. That win had allowed the US to win the tournament with a good result against Brazil.
