After winning the 2011 MIAC Men’s Soccer Player-of-the-Year, Burnsville, Minn., native  David Rosenthal has now collected another honor. The St. Olaf sophomore has been named to the NSCAA DIII All-American First Team as a forward. Rosenthal was the only player selected that was not a junior or senior.

After four outstanding  years at Apple Valley High School and being named to the All-State team, All-Midwest Team as well as Star Tribune’s and Pioneer Press’ Player of the Year in his senior season, Rosenthal attended St. Olaf College. As a freshman he started 17 games and scored 4 goals with 4 assists.

In 2011 Rosenthal had a breakout season. He started all 22 games for St. Olaf and led the Oles with 14 goals and 9 assists for 37 points. He scored twice, including the game-winner in the second overtime, in the MIAC title game against Carleton College.

The 39 athletes will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held in the Kansas City Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom on Saturday, Jan. 14, in conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
