I’d love to know just how “pro” they are going to be. I’d also love to know if they refunded the money to the last poor souls who paid who tryouts when they knew that barely enough funds to cover gas money for that rickety old school bus they used to travel around in.

I don’t have an issue with you beefing up my posts a bit (well, except for the fact that you spelled diligent wrong!). A very fine enhancement otherwise; properly vetting incoming ownership groups is certainly of huge importance. WPS learned that lesson the hard way by allowing a certain magicjackass into their fold.

Good to see FCNY still around in some form, even if they did do it backwards.

“Blow hard at FC New York?” Don’t you know that those fine fine folks at FC New York have just made a major announcement regarding the best league in the US that they are joining?

FC New York Joins NPSL
Garden City, NY (February 17, 2012) – Football Club New York (FCNY) is pleased to announce that they will join the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) for the 2012 season.

F.C. New York will join the NPSL’s Northeast Division- as the eighth member of its Atlantic Conference that consists of teams from New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine.

“We look forward to fine competition at the NPSL level” said Managing Director Anthony DiCocco. “The fans have shown us great support in the past. Our local derbies with Red Bull and Brooklyn Italians yield exciting soccer” DiCocco added “we embrace the NPSL and we are proud to be a member. With nearly 50 other clubs nationwide, the organization allows its members to create their own policies and make decisions. “

The club will be introducing a new website and more in the weeks ahead. FC New York will be having Try Outs on Saturday February 25th & Sunday February 26th from 6 to 9pm at Burns Park in Massapequa. I give them credit for revitalizing the brand and making it hip and “urban” up in some of the burroughs. Other clubs that actually field professional teams should have been using that same sort of hip-hop-street-skatepunk type sort of martketing approach YEARS ago. I gotta give them cred for that.
