He showed moments of brilliance in his two games. If he can bring that consistently as the starter (if he is the starter), the Islanders have a chance at better than another mediocre season. I’m not faulting Ray Burse for last years’ lack of success. He was solid in the nets. There were too many defensive lapses in the back line last year. Ray was getting pummeled at times and availed himself heroically. I’m just saying that Martin showed glimpses of being able to be a game changer like Gaudette did for the Islanders in their unforgettable 2008 season.
