When Romney gets the Prez status, maybe he can work some incentives out with MN to allow them the ability to afford a cover for the dome. Who are we kidding here? Snow is non-existent in MN?

I forget, that is where I go to deepen my tan.......

The GOP plan has no roof on the stadium and is paid for by bonding. Other states have got into serious trouble by relying on gambling to fund projects. Sounds like this is what the Vikes want.

It just leaves a foul taste in my mouth to hear some of the things Dayton has said. He should try and build consenus not create division. That is leadership.

You could always try to annex North Dakota in, as The Onion suggested awhile back. We have some nukes, a lot of extra money in state coffers, and a state legislature that only meets every other year- thus only half the ideas on how to spend it. My guess is with the annexation the surplus would be gone, but what the heck, we'd have a professional sports team. Go Stars!

Soccer Boy, you yourself have said here and other places that the GOP has no leadership at the moment. Who was he supposed to work with if there's no real leadership?

The bill is authored by a republican who Dayton has been working very closely with as well as other republicans who also support the bill. In fact it's their believe that they have enough republican and democrats votes to carry the stadium bill. The problem is with the leadership of the GOP or as you have said in the past, the lack of leadership at this moment.

Now I'm not making a statement on whether I support this bill or not. There are plenty of reasons to want and not want this bill. But holding it hostage on the floor falls solely at this point and time on the GOP leadership. If they don't want the bill fine. Then vote it down. But lets not hold up the process because they don't want to look like the bad guy here. If they believe in not funding the stadium vote it down and let the people know this is what they stand for. I have no problem with that. I do have a problem doing what they are currently doing.

I say all this as a MN voting tax payer and trying (somewhat) to remove my journalistic cap for a few minutes.

Disappointed Dayton is trying to politicize the stadium issue. This is going nowhere once someone starts to play the partisan game on a major issue like this. Dayton should have exercised some leadership on this issue and included legislative leaders from the beginning. Pawlenty did a great job building a consensus to save the Twins. I just hope Dayton takes a step back and learns something from T-Paw!
