    I just want to apologize for the poor audio quality this year. Last week my audio levels were far too low so boosted them this week and peaked them out and then some. Hopefully we will get it right next week.

    I would be curious what Traffic Sports USA thinks about their investment in the Railhawks this season. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that a team like Carolina has a lot more money than most other D2 teams–including the league owned Stars. I would like to see how much better the Stars would be if Manny would have a budget on par with Carolina. In the final analysis, I think there are many questions that need to be answered by the players and the coach. #DefendTheCup

    PS: Still waiting for love from Yankiboy!

    Good show as always gentlemen. So glad each week to have my Strikers and the NASL to follow right along with everyone else. Totally stoked for the USOC matches starting next week as well. I am hoping the Strikers can start a run of solid, unbeaten form this Saturday against BQ’s Stars at Lockhart. Hoping the rain stays away and we have a good crowd. It’s a shame it’s been so long since that exciting 3 – 2 victory against the Islanders here at home. I think a lot of people walked out of Lockhart that night wanting more. Hopefully they haven’t forgotten!

    Attendance being down, for us down here at least, is a result of pretty much nothing in the way of an advertising budget for the Strikers this year. Once or twice they’ve had an ad on the Sun-Sentinels online sports section, and in the actual print version, but that’s pretty much been it. No advertising and no local media coverage means only the die hards know you even exist. We have a local radio guy who is a die hard original Striker Liker just like me, and he is the PA announcer at Lockhart for each game. But he’s the only media personality in this entire market who EVER even mentions the Strikers on air.

    I see one big opportunity for the Strikers to reach a wider audience this season if they continue to be unwilling or unable to spend on advertising. The US Open Cup. They HAVE to beat Fresno next Tuesday. They absolutely must approach it with their full attention and intensity. Then we need to get lucky and host an MLS squad. Actually hosting an MLS team, especially a marquee one like the Galaxy or Red Bulls would force the local media to at least take SOME notice of the team. Beckham and the Galaxy coming here would be the best possible scenario for coverage and trying to drum up some fan interest. Obviously from an onfield standpoint we’d much rather be facing a side we might have some small chance of upsetting like the Crew LOL, but of course that wouldn’t be as “newsworthy” as Beckham and the Galaxy.

    @strikers return

    this is all wishful thinking for you, and i may have also misread the US Open Cup info a while back, but i believe a NASL side can host with the random draw this year through quarterfinals… then the bidding occurs for host sites. so maybe a columbus or philly can come to town for an upset, then you reel in the big one, a week or two later with an LA Galaxy ;)

    @Soccer Boy, I’m correcting you since you are wrong. Carolina also went through substantial cuts this season from Traffic Sports. Ft. Lauderdale and Carolina are both finding out what it’s like to live on a Minnesota budget, although I think they both have a little more resources than the Stars.

    Do the MLS teams normally field the first squad for this upcoming round based on historical trends? I would think the Scorpions have a chance against Houston if they don’t lose form and Houston comes out slow. If we beat the Laredo Heat I am predicting we will put 18k in the stands if the fire marshall allows for the game against the Dynamo.

    @kevthe german: Depends on the MLS squad, Bro. Seattle seems to always put its best team available out there. Some of the other clubs will use a lot of rserves until later in the competititon.

    Here’s hoping the Earthquakes subscribe to that using reserves until later in the competition theory!
