US Soccer to Play First-Ever World Cup Qualifier at Livestrong Sporting Park
U.S. Soccer announced on Monday that LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, home of Sporting KC and state-of-the-art soccer specific stadium, will be the site of the October 16th World Cup qualifier between the U.S. and Guatemala.
The match will be the final game for the U.S. in the Semifinal Round for qualification of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
U.S. Soccer also announced that the game will be broadcast live on ESPN2, ESPN3 and the Univision family.
“We are very excited to play such an important World Cup qualifier in Kansas City,” said U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann. “They have an amazing new facility in LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, and the fans have really demonstrated incredible support for soccer in the area. We expect it’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere.”
