Happy Americans!

This photo seems to be circulating around Facebook and was most likely taken from a camera phone of one of the players. It surely was taken just moments after the US Men’s National Team’s first-ever win in Azteca and first-ever win on Mexican soil. Joy is a word that comes to mind when looking at this classic photo. The happy Americans like Jermain Jones have ice on knees and are even fitted with oxygen masks but are still able to celebrate an odd but historic win with a patchwork group that head coach Jurgen Klinsmann put together for this poorly set FIFA date. It is fitting that Michael Orozco, who scored the winning goal against the Mexicans, plays in Liga MX. Perhaps it’s that comfort level, of US players who grew up with the language and play in the Hispanic and Latino leagues, that has helped to brake down previous walls of intimidation.

I think Edu tweeted it first right after the game, but I’m seeing it everywhere now!
