"The Stars coach singled out VanOekel for a good performance..."

In my humble opinion MVO made the difference in this match. He made several reaction-saves that kept the Stars in the match and allowed the offense to score two goals. Matt had huge shoes to fill with the retirement of Joe Warren. However, he has consistently proved that he has what it takes to play goalkeeper at a high level and is worthy of taking the next step to MLS.

As a whole, this was one of the most exciting Stars matches I have seen in a long time and probably as a whole better then the first leg of the championship series last year. The first 25 minutes was a track meet with both teams playing great attacking soccer.

Despite the lose, Jeff Attinella deserves credit for playing a solid match. He also made several great saves that can go into a highlight film. This guy has some pretty good technique and I think he is worthy of consideration on a MLS team too.

PS: It was Joe Warren's birthday yesterday. I am sure Joe was happy seeing his successor have a great match between the pipes last night.
