    In my humble opinion, this match proves why Jeff Attinella was the league MVP. I chatted briefly with Jeff after the first match and he was upset at his performance and was determined to make the difference in game #2. While I am disappointed the Stars lost, I am glad a team like the Rowdies won. They played consistent soccer all season and deserved the Cup.

    PS: @Yankiboy, thank you for making the correction on the Taka sub. You beat me too it. I thought it was an interesting sub too.

    Ya, I blew that one but it was the taking out of Taka a defensive midfielder and replacing him with a forward that I thought was very strange when the game was tight with the Stars in the lead 3-2 aggregate. Still not sure I understand that move. Personally, I would have loved to see Kevin Friedland come in as a defensive midfielder. He reads the game well, has a ton of experience and could be dangerous on set pieces or help defending them when being attacked. All is hind sight now.

    BQ, Jay & Gerry,

    Great job as always gentlemen on the podcast!

    BQ, way to sneak the big news in at the end. Did you think we weren’t listening?

    I am sorry to hear that you are taking a break for a while from the site. I am sure you deserve it. These past few years have been extremely busy in lower division soccer in the US and you were the best source of info – consistently!

    Your site has been high quality and I have enjoyed having a place to come read about my favorite sport. It has been a pleasure listening to the podcast, reading your articles & those of your contributors these last 4 years. Thank you for all the effort that you (and others) have put into the site over the years.

    I sincerely hope you come back after a well deserved break! Finally, your readers will come back to this site no matter what form it takes in the future!

    BQ, the one thing I like about Kevin is that he can out jump even the tallest player. I forget what match it was at home, but Kevin was subbed in I think in an outside mid position and made a positive impact on the match. Maybe having that veteran experience on the field against Tampa could have been the game changer.

    Any idea on what Kevin will be doing next season. If he does not play, I hope he gets a front office position or coaching job with a MLS team.

    PS: I just had to give you a hard time on the mistake. After all, we are all human, right?

    BQ – a million thanks for the IMS articles and podcasts, whatever the future holds. Your spring 2011 article convinced me to finally become a Stars season ticket holder. What a shame it would have been to miss out on any of the last 2 seasons!

    Very king of you Liz. I love hearing that sort of feedback. Most of the time I sort of live in this vacuum of pounding out the work and not hearing much back so I love to hear that at least for you, I made a difference.

    @BQ

    You are the bomb!! Think of the last 4 years, the USL-1 Division, the TOA and it’s cast of characters, the birth (or rebirth) of NASL, the rebranding of USL’s professional division to USL Pro and so on.

    You were there all the while, reporting the “insider’s point of view” at every turn.

    Having your site become dormant for 1-2 months will be an InsideMNSoccer addict’s tough withdrawal, but it is what it is.

    I hope you come back re-energized and with all the passion and love for the sport that we all know you have!
