Amway Canadian Championship Begins in May

The Canadian Soccer Association championship club series will have a new logo and title sponsor this season.  Amway Canada has returned as sponsor of the tournament that determines the Canadian club representative in the CONCACAF Champions League for its 2012-2013 competition.

While the Canadian competition will change names from the Nutrilite Canadian Championship to the Amway Canadian Championship for at least the next two years, the teams involved, as well as the competition format, will remain the same as last year, with Toronto FC, the Vancouver Whitecaps, FC Edmonton and the Montreal Impact seeded according to their 2011 finish in MLS and NASL.  The Amway Canadian Championship semifinals begin May 2.

Thus Montreal will face Toronto in their two-legged series, while Vancouver and Edmonton do battle in the semifinal round, insuring that the final will be an Eastern Canada versus Western Canada fixture. Toronto FC have won the competition in the last three seasons, with FC Edmonton seeing their first involvement last season, with the tournament ending May 23.
