Diego Costa Set For Premier League Return?

When big names are linked with moves during the summer transfer window, it can be easy to get too carried away. In reality, you need to try and find the balance between what seems to be the truth, and what seems to be nothing more than a fabrication.

For this story, however, it certainly feels like there’s some weight behind it. Diego Costa is the type of player that is able to cause a stir even if he doesn’t try to, based on the many controversies surrounding his game. He is far from the perfect example of what a footballer should be or how they should behave, but to be perfectly honest, we don’t really think that he cares.

Back he comes once again

That’s both a blessing and a curse depending on what side of the coin you’re dealing with, because if he plays for you, it can be pretty fun to see him be so ‘cheeky’ so to speak. If he’s going against you, however, it can be one of the most infuriating things in the world.

As reported by The Guardian and Birmingham Mail, it seems as if the next destination for the 30 year old could be in pretty familiar surroundings for him: in the English Premier League.

Many fans will remember back in the day when Costa first joined Chelsea, and there was a lot of speculation as to whether or not the Spanish international would be able to get the job done in English football on a consistent basis. They probably shouldn’t have worried, as Costa went on to have a remarkable run with the Blues during his three year spell with the club.

He would up returning to Atletico Madrid where he has somewhat struggled to recapture the form he once had, and now, he has his eyes set firmly on the Premier League once again.

Return of the troll

As you can see by the above links, the two interested clubs are believed to be Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers. For Wolves it seems like Costa would be a really valuable addition ahead of what is bound to be a tense and long season courtesy of their Europa League adventure, but for Everton, it could be a real gamechanger.

It seems like this would be a great fit for the Toffees, who are in desperate need of a natural goalscorer. They’ve got a few forwards who are capable of chipping in here and there, but if they are serious about competing with the top six, they require a forward like Costa who has the potential to put together a 20 goal season.

He has his negative points as we all know, but even with that being the case, Diego is the kind of pantomime villain that the top flight has missed. That may not be a general consensus kind of viewpoint, especially for old school fans of the game, but there’s no way of getting around his natural talent with the ball at his feet.
