The Premier League’s Final Day Is Almost Here

It’s almost time for the Premier League to ride off into the sunset for another year after nine months full of incredible action from England’s top flight.

While there’s already been a lot to get excited about and digest, you could argue the best is yet to come – in a very small supply, that is.

The final day of the Premier League season comes this weekend and there’s still a whole lot to work out from the top of the table to the bottom, which is what we’re going to try and venture through.

P.S: Good luck to all sides attempting to finish in the top half, too, which includes Wolves, Leicester, Brighton, Brentford, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and even Aston Villa.

Title race

With a one point lead at the top, Manchester City know that they just need to avoid dropping points in order to win the Premier League title. They’ll be taking on Aston Villa on the final day in the hope of doing just that.

Alas, if they slip up, Liverpool are going to be right on their tails as they face Wolves. The Reds have to win given their inferior goal difference, unless Villa decide to absolutely batter City and Klopp’s men get a draw.

Top four

Arsenal have officially fumbled the bag and because of that, they now need a minor miracle if they want to play Champions League football next season. In short, they have to beat Everton to stand any chance.

Tottenham have a far superior goal difference and they’ll be playing already-relegated Norwich. The only way for things to flip is the Gunners winning and Spurs losing, but that still feels unlikely.

Top six

The difference between Europa League football and Conference League football is currently two points with Manchester United being in sixth – however, their goal difference is inferior to that of their closest challengers.

West Ham need to beat Brighton to stand any chance of getting back into the competition they got to the semi-finals of during the campaign, relying heavily on Crystal Palace to do them a favour against the Red Devils.

Relegation battle

Burnley play Aston Villa and Everton host Crystal Palace tonight with their games in hand, meaning we won’t know the full picture regarding what they need to do until 10pm tonight.

Everton are on 36 points, Leeds are on 35 and Burnley are on 34. I the Clarets can just get a point against Villa then they’ll vault above Leeds on GD, with Everton just hoping to avoid another defeat that would bring them right back into it heading into the final day.

On Sunday, it’ll be the Toffees vs Arsenal, Burnley vs Newcastle and Leeds vs Brentford. Tasty.
