Liverpool’s Dream Season Continues

Liverpool Football Club is an institution in English football and beyond that, it continues to serve as one of the biggest juggernauts in the sport worldwide. In case you don’t believe us, perhaps go and take a look at just how remarkable their season has been up to this point.

The Reds are competing on four fronts and with a potential quadruple on the horizon, their greatness really does need to be put into perspective.

Champions League

Liverpool pretty much walked through the group stage of this season’s Champions League and in doing so, set themselves up perfectly for a really strong run in the knockouts – and boy oh boy have they lived up to that.

Their most recent outing took place last night when they were able to come from behind and defeat an incredibly impressive Villarreal, booking their place in the final in the process.

Premier League

With just two league losses throughout the campaign, it should come as no surprise whatsoever that Liverpool are firmly in the race to win the title – with their only other competition, unsurprisingly at this stage, being Manchester City.

They’re only one point behind but with just four games to go, they need to win their remaining fixtures and hope that City slip up in what has been one of the top flight’s most intense battles in years.

FA Cup

You could argue that up to the semi-finals, Liverpool had a relatively easy route through the FA Cup with Shrewsbury, Cardiff, Norwich and Nottingham Forest all falling at the feet of Jurgen Klopp’s men.

From there, though, they had to come face to face with old rivals Manchester City. After racing into a 3-0 lead they were almost pegged back but they held on, and now they’ll take on Chelsea in what should be a thoroughly enjoyable final.

League Cup

The run to League Cup glory was slightly more stressful for Liverpool as they had to defeat Norwich, Preston, Leicester and Arsenal over two legs in order to reach the final. When they finally arrived at that point, they had to play Chelsea – the same team they’ll take on at Wembley next weekend.

When push came to shove they weren’t quite able to get past the Blues over the course of 120 minutes but thankfully for them, they had the joy of a penalty shootout to finally seal the win and set them on this magnificent path.
