The Premier League Rollercoaster Continues

The Premier League is known for being one of the best top flight divisions in the world and for good reason, given that it provides us with such an incredible amount of entertaining football from week to week.

Now, with just a handful of games left in the season, it’s time to take a look at how things are panning out at both the top and the bottom of the table after another enthralling set of fixtures over the weekend.

The title race

The best way to describe what went down in the title race in the last few days is ‘same old, same old’. While there was some adversity on display for both of the top two, they came through their respective tests with flying colours.

Manchester City put Watford to the sword with a 5-1 demolition that leaves them one point clear at the top. Meanwhile, Liverpool overcame some nervous moments to defeat rivals Everton 2-0 at Anfield.

Top four struggle

Arsenal may have lost three games in a row recently but they’ve still been able to bounce back in a way few could’ve expected this week with victories over Chelsea and Manchester United – two of their top four foes.

United seem to be down and out in this particular department with the only other contenders being Tottenham, who need to try and regain some lost momentum after a 0-0 draw away at Brentford.

European push

Tottenham and Manchester United need to watch out because if they aren’t careful, they could lose ground to West Ham and potentially put their Europa League place in jeopardy – if it comes to that, of course.

At the same time, the Hammers’ loss to Chelsea means Wolves could push above them into seventh if they start picking up results. Unfortunately for Lage’s men, they fell to a 1-0 loss against Burnley, meaning we’re right back where we started.

Relegation scrap

Leeds United need to try and get a result against Crystal Palace tonight to help push them away from the threat of the bottom three but in reality, the scrap is between Everton and Burnley with Norwich and Watford looking like virtual certainties to go down.

Burnley sit in 17th place with 31 points after a win over Wolves with Everton sitting 18th with 29 points following their derby defeat. The Toffees have a game in hand, but we wouldn’t be feeling at all confident with Frank Lampard at the helm.
