Five Clubs Who Impressed In The Premier League Last Weekend

Another weekend of Premier League action is officially in the books and there was a whole lot to digest and either end of the table. From big comebacks to assertive wins and beyond, that was something of note that went down in pretty much every game.

Today, we’re going to pick out five clubs amongst the 20 who stood out above the rest.

Liverpool – beat Watford 5-0

This was about as emphatic as it gets for Liverpool and when you see that Mane, Firmino and Salah managed to score five goals between them, it becomes clear for all to see that this is still a team capable of getting the job done up top.

They’re viewed by many as the leading frontrunners in the race for the title but the best thing for Reds fans is that Jurgen Klopp legitimately only seems to focus on one game at a time.

Wolves – beat Aston Villa 3-2

Wolverhampton Wanderers did not play well at all on Saturday afternoon in their Midlands derby against Aston Villa. With ten minutes to go, they were 2-0 down and they hadn’t really put up much of a fight.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Bruno Lage’s men came to life with an absolutely insane comeback to secure a 3-2 win. It was deserved by the full-time whistle but anyone who said they saw this coming is outright lying.

Leicester – beat Man United 4-2

Manchester United are in trouble right now which is an issue in itself, but the bigger story that we took away from the weekend was how good Leicester City looked.

They weren’t perfect and some of their defensive issues proved that but they were ruthless and efficient in front of goal, which reaffirms just how good they are when they’re in front of their home fans.

Brentford – lost 1-0 to Chelsea

Chelsea, the Champions of Europe, were time-wasting in the dying minutes of this game to try and stop the never-ending surge of pressure that was coming from Brentford.

That, in itself, is pretty crazy – and so is the start that the Bees have made in this campaign. They are easily one of the most thrilling teams to watch in the top flight and even in defeat, they were the ones who came away looking great on Saturday.

Crystal Palace – drew 2-2 with Arsenal

The dream return for Patrick Vieira didn’t quite come to fruition in the manner he would’ve hoped but even with that being the case, they pushed Arsenal to the limit and only failed to win courtesy of a last gasp equaliser from Alexandre Lacazette.

Nobody really knows what to expect from the Eagles on a long-term basis under Vieira, and they have only been able to win one of their first eight games, but they’ve also only lost twice.

Arsenal will be the ones breathing a sigh of relief whereas Crystal Palace supporters know that they’ve finally got a first team squad they can get behind, which hasn’t been the case for quite a few years.
