Five Premier League Clubs With Huge Opportunities This Week

The Premier League is back in business with another set of midweek fixtures in this chaotic December schedule. The direction of travel between now and the new year is going to be pretty interesting given how many teams have something to fight for – aka, all of them.

Today, we’re going to take a look at five top flight clubs who have a whole lot to gain if they can pull a positive result out of the bag in the next couple of days.

Leeds

While they haven’t exactly been everyone away in recent weeks, every single one of Leeds United’s games in their last few outings have gone down to the wire. With that in mind, we’re pretty intrigued to see what happens when they visit Manchester City.

City are the reigning English champions and they’re one of the most exciting clubs on the planet, but they also have a tendency to stumble from time to time. When put up against the might of Leeds, they can’t afford to do that.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are back on the winning trail to the delight of Patrick Vieira. Some believe their ability to push into the top ten may have been overestimated but in reality, they’ve got a good squad that can beat anyone on the right night.

They’re set to play host to Southampton in a fixture that should suit them perfectly. The Eagles are going to go right at them, which the Saints won’t enjoy, knowing that they could go as high as 8th with a victory.

Burnley

Burnley have taken points away from nine of their games in the Premier League this season and have only lost six, but with only one of their positive results being a win, it makes sense that they’re down in the bottom three.

They’re going up against fellow strugglers Watford on Wednesday night and, in our view, this should be a perfect opportunity for them to finally get a second win on the board.

Chelsea

Chelsea were in control of the title race just a few weeks ago but in the blink of an eye, they’re suddenly in a position whereby they need to scratch and claw to get back on level footing with Liverpool and Manchester City.

They need a winnable game and if there was ever going to be one, hosting an Everton side that’s just a few defeats away from a sacking could be a good way to go.

Liverpool

Liverpool will be hoping Leeds can do them a favour against Manchester City but either way, they need to focus on the task at hand – which for them, will be maintaining the insane pace they’ve kept up recently.

They’ll welcome Newcastle United to Anfield and if the Magpies’ loss to Leicester is anything to go by, Liverpool should be feeling pretty confident. It’s not exactly a guaranteed three points but if they’re on form and they score early, it could get ugly – which would be great for their already-incredible goal difference.
