Can Leicester City Become An Elite Club?

Leicester City, as reported by the club themselves, have already announced one of their pre-season games in the form of a visit to Scunthorpe United. Read Celtic are reporting on whether or not their fanbase has forgiven one of their former managers. What do these two utterly random stories have in common? Brendan Rodgers.

Brendan Rodgers is the former manager of Celtic Football Club and the current manager of Leicester City Football Club, and before we get too deep into this, we just want to say one thing: that man is severely underrated in the realms of European football. We aren’t suggesting that he is the greatest manager who has ever lived or anything like that, but what we are saying is that he deserves a little bit more respect. You can only beat who is put in front of you and this guy has done that pretty handily over the last few years, to the point where many Leicester fans think he could take them back into contention for a place in Europe.

On the rise

That seemed unthinkable just a few short months ago, but now, the Foxes are being discussed in the same breath as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton when it comes to how bright their future could be.

So, why did we bring up those two stories specifically at the top? Well, there are a few reasons.

First of all: Leicester still taking part in friendlies against teams like Scunthorpe proves that they’ve still got a long way to go before they dance with the elite once again, and we kind of like that. They’re building from the ground up and they know the steps that need to be taken in order to do so.

Second of all, why do Celtic fans need to ‘forgive’ Rodgers? He brought that club a great deal of success, and then decided to move on to a better job. People move up in the world all the time, and yet, these Celtic fans can’t handle the fact that they’re being pushed to the side for a league that is much better than their own. That sounds a little bit harsh, but sometimes, the truth hurts.

Here we go again

In terms of Leicester City, we don’t need to tell you just how much they’ve had to go through this season. It has been a fairly turbulent time for everyone involved with the club, and now, we all just want to see them rise up and take the bull by the horns as they have done on so many occasions in the past. We don’t think they’re going to win the Premier League title again anytime soon or anything like that, but even another top half finish would mark a substantial upturn in consistency.

As a club they’ve got all the potential on the planet, and we’re really not sure how you could argue that fact. Now they’ve got to put it into practice, starting with what should be a fascinating summer transfer window.
