The Manchester City Quadruple Dream Is Still Alive

Manchester City have once again emerged as the stars of the Premier League this season, capitalising on the failures of Liverpool in a big way to seemingly get back to a point where they’re now the champions-elect.

However, if they truly want to cement their legacy as one of the best teams to ever play the game, Pep Guardiola knows they need to pick up some big silverware this season.

The club is in a position right now where they are genuine contenders in four different competitions, meaning there is a chance they’ll walk away from the season with an unprecedented quadruple.

There’s no guarantee they’ll be able to pull it off but when you look at the numbers, things are going pretty well for Pep’s men heading into the final few months of the campaign.

Premier League

It seems inevitable that Manchester City are going to win the Premier League once again as they currently sit with a dominating 14-point lead at the top of the table – even after they were beaten by local rivals Manchester United.

Consistency is obviously key to winning the big one but when we take a look at the lead they’ve built for themselves, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see them take their foot off the gas in the name of prioritising other competitions.

UEFA Champions League

Once again, Manchester City are the favourites to win the UEFA Champions League with only Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain being seen as real threats to the throne.

It’s the one title that has always seemed to elude City and if there’s ever going to be a season for them to get the job done, it’s this one. They have an insane amount of momentum going for themselves, they have a comfortable first leg lead over Borussia Monchengladbach in the last 16 and they don’t seem to be afraid of anyone.

FA Cup

Manchester City tend to either win the FA Cup or go out in the most dramatic way imaginable – which should serve as quite the incentive for Everton heading into their quarter-final tie.

City have already had a few bumps in the road during the season in the FA Cup but again, when you look at the teams who are left still standing, they’re going to be the favourites and it’s not really that close. If they beat the Toffees they’ll be at Wembley and from there, we all know anything can happen.

League Cup

Manchester City have won the League Cup in five of the last seven seasons and they’ve also won it three years on the bounce, with the hope being that they’ll make it four this time around.

They’re already in the final, which takes place in late April against Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s going to be really interesting to see whether they can edge past Jose Mourinho’s men. Logic states they should come out on top but Spurs are a different team to just a few months ago, and Jose will be eager to spoil the party.
