David Beckham On The Hunt For Inter Miami Stars

There are plenty of influential figures that have come and gone throughout the course of Major League Soccer’s young history, helping the league progress and develop with each and every passing year. Some, of course, have been a bit more influential than others, with David Beckham being much higher up in that list than most.

It’s well known that Beckham will be bringing Inter Miami into the MLS mix in the next few years, helping to implement a brand new franchise as the expansion of North America’s premier football league continues.

He has hit a few speed bumps along the way but still seems to be maintaining his composure, and by maintaining his composure, we mean that he’s attempting to acquire some of the best players in world football as reported by Sky Sports and ESPN.

The first steps

It’s clear to see that he needs some kind of a marquee signing in order to really intrigue the masses down in Florida, and you certainly can’t accuse him of not trying.

The two names that have been most popularly featured are Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, which, as you can imagine, Beckham’s pals over at Real Madrid will probably be absolutely thrilled about.

We’re talking about two very different players and that isn’t exactly some sort of startling revelation. Suarez has been known to cause his fair share of issues over the years, and it’s kind of pointless pretending like that isn’t the case.

However, his power, finishing ability and positioning makes him just as valuable today as he was five years ago. Sure, he’s not quite as fast, but he’s still capable of doing some major damage – especially in a league like the MLS (which we know sounds incredibly disrespectful).

On the other end of the spectrum you’ve got the best player in the world, and one of the greatest of all time, Lionel Messi. The Argentine is, and always has been, on a completely different level to everyone he plays against – and it kind of terrifies us to think about what he would be capable of in North America.

Not reliable – but do they care?

He is miles ahead of the competition over there and you just know he would make them suffer in ways that only he can.

Suarez seems like a much more likely acquisition for Beckham, and he kind of seems to be more heavily focused on the Uruguay international anyway. That makes sense, as going after Messi in any way, shape or form seems pointless unless you can offer him a contract that is really special.

Whatever the case may be we’re just excited to see some kind of movement with this project. There is a lot of potential for Inter Miami and we personally believe that the market is there for this to become a long term success, and let’s face it, having the face of David Beckham attached to the project isn’t going to hurt.

Suarez, though, will take it to another level.
