Applauding Everton Before They Face Burnley

If you want to stop and talk about clubs in English football that have the most history, Everton simply have to be located towards the top of your list. Whilst they may not have enjoyed the success that some of their rivals have in recent years, that doesn’t mean they should be cast aside. Their ability to remain at the top level of the game for so long is truly inspiring, and it showcases how much potential this club truly has.

In the last few years they certainly seem to have lost their spark, though, to the point where they haven’t really been viewed as consistent contenders at the top of the table. That’s okay, too, because sometimes it can be difficult to sustain that kind of pressure, but the worst part is that the fan interest in the team itself seemed to be declining as well.

Good times on their way?

Now, though, after a strong run over the last few months, Everton are dreaming of European football once again. It seems unlikely that they’ll be able to acquire it in time for next season unless a series of results go their way, but even with that being the case, the fact that they’re in the discussion for seventh is a sign (hopefully for their fans) of things to come.

There finally seems to be some investment in the football club from top to bottom, and to go alongside that, there finally seems to be some honest to god ambition. Just take a look at this report from The Telegraph which confirms Tom Davies’ new contract. It’s clear to see that they’re actively going out of their way to build something, as opposed to just being content with where they’re at.

This report from Liverpool Echo also kind of tells you all that you need to know about the future, too. The academy at Goodison has always been pretty top notch, but at this stage, they really do seem to be stepping up their game. Sure, there’s no way of confirming or possibly even knowing whether or not Marco Silva is going to be the right man for the job over an extended period of time beyond this season, but the proof would suggest that he’s more than capable of getting the job done.

A very winnable game

Everton are set to take on Burnley during the Friday night Premier League game later on this week, and as you can probably imagine, history suggests that it’s going to go pretty well for the Toffees. However, history doesn’t really always tell the full story. Not even close.

Focusing on the task at hand is going to be Everton’s key to avoiding a meltdown here, especially against a team that have been known for their ability to spoil the party. In many ways there isn’t even really any pressure on the shoulders of Everton at this late stage of the campaign, but if they want to build up some momentum ahead of next year, then it’s in their best interests to give fans something to shout about.
