Atlanta Silverbacks Uniform Contest Nearing Final Decision

2011 September 8
by Brian Quarstad

After a month of voting on Facebook the Atlanta Silverbacks have narrowed their uniform design contest down to five finalists. Those finalists were decided by fan votes on the Atlanta Silverbacks Facebook page.

All five start the final round on even footing, and the one that earns the most “likes” as of 11:59 p.m. on September 22 will be declared the winner.

To vote you first need to go to the Silverback Facebook page. Once there “Like” that page and then click on the photo album titled “Uniform Design Contest: The Finals.” You will need to  click on the design you want to vote for then click on “LIKE” once the design opens in your browser.

The winner will be honored at the Silverbacks’ final game of the season on September 24 at Atlanta Silverbacks Park.

The designers of the five finalist uniforms are Nicole Stone, 38, of Johns Creek; Adrian Portillo, 29, of Roswell; Jordan Rowe, 26, of Atlanta; and Gabriel Campoy, 17, of Lawrenceville. Contestants were allowed to submit multiple unique designs for consideration, and two of Stone’s entries advance to the finals.

Each finalist has already won 2012 season tickets and the grand prize winner will receive a four-day, three-night trip to Bogota, Colombia. The Silverbacks apparel partner, Saeta, is based in Bogota and the winning fan will have the opportunity to visit the company’s factory and watch the new-look uniforms being manufactured. The winner will also get tickets to a professional soccer game in Colombia and four 2012 Silverbacks uniforms showcasing the winning design.

The best one is the silver one. Not only does it look sharp, but it has a “silver back”. Very cool to see these kinds of contests, nice to get the fans involved.

My pick is fade-in one. It has nice aesthetic touch and creates 3-D impression. I would love to see a silver on the back, fading into dark grey/black on the sides, just like the the namesake of the team.

I’m sure hopin that this means that Boris, ergh, umh Traffic plan on fielding a Silverbacks team in NASL next season. Maybe they coulld sign a few more capable players to wear those sweet new jerseys…

I prefer the silver one – Red & Black reminds me too much of EP, which turns my stomach sour

@yankiboy – Or perhaps Traffic has lined up someone to divest themelves of majority ownership to. That would be even better. Personally I like the fade in one best myself. But they’d all be worthy choices except the hoops. Looks too much like a red and black copy of OUR red and yellow hoops!!!!! LOL
